August 9, 2004 Meeting Minutes

OFFICIAL MINUTES
OF THE
CITY OF KEWAUNEE COMMON COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 9, 2004

Present: Mayor Jeanquart, Alderman Blaha, Vollenweider, Abrahamson, Crabb, Griffith, Schroeder, Rabas, Schneider

Absent: None

Others: Administrator Kranz, Public Works Director Balleine, City Attorney Wolske, Laurie Kranz, Barb Ludlow

Mayor Jeanquart called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. whereas the Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by meditation.

The Council received the Finance Committee minutes of July 12, 2004.

Abrahamson moved and Blaha seconded to approve the issuance of Operator’s Licenses as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

Abrahamson moved and Griffith seconded to approve the July 2004 Accounts Payable in the amount of $542,980.57. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Public Works Committee minutes of July 28, 2004.

Schneider moved and Vollenweider seconded to authorize the advertising and filling of the Laborer position vacancy in the Street Department. Motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Public Property Committee minutes of August 2, 2004.

Vollenweider moved and Schroeder seconded to accept the sale of surplus property to the high bidders as submitted and on file. Motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Plan Commission minutes of July 29, 2004.

The Council received the Beautification Committee minutes of July 20, 2004.

Abrahamson moved and Crabb seconded to approve the construction of a new Welcome Sign at the new water tower site with costs not to exceed $6,000 and with the difference between donations and actual costs to be paid from room tax dollars. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

Blaha moved and Rabas seconded to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of July 12, 2004 as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Jeanquart informed the Council that the City received approval for a Coastal Management Grant in the amount of $35,000 to help offset the costs in the purchase of the Harbor Park railroad property.

Mayor Jeanquart also reported that a grant for skate park improvements will be applied for.

Blaha moved and Vollenweider seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
