December 17, 2009 Regular Meeting Minutes

OFFICIAL MINUTES
OF THE
CITY OF KEWAUNEE COMMON COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 14, 2009

Present: Mayor Blaha, Alderman Kostka, LuMaye, Kunkel, Zenner, Jeske, D. Kickbusch, Sperber

Absent: Vollenweider (excused)

Others: Public Works Director Balleine, City Attorney Wolske, Nick Ritz, Dennis Grulkowski, Tom Schneider

Mayor Blaha called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. whereas the Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by meditation.

The Council received the Finance Committee minutes of November 9, 2009.

Zenner moved and Sperber seconded to approve the issuance of Operator’s Licenses as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

Zenner moved and LuMaye seconded to approve the November 2009 Accounts Payables in the amount of $93,118.78. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Public Works Committee minutes of November 24, 2009.

D. Kickbusch moved and Kostka seconded to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of November 9, 2009. Motion carried unanimously.

Jeske moved and Zenner seconded to approve the Special Council Meeting minutes of November 11, 2009. Motion carried unanimously.

Kostka moved and Kunkel seconded to approve the Special Council Meeting minutes of December 2, 2009. Motion carried unanimously.

Sperber moved and LuMaye seconded to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 989-09, RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACTIVATION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS PLAN AND DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEN NECESSARY. Motion carried unanimously.

Laura Gerold, 701 Juneau Street, appeared under public comment to ask of what is occurring with the wastewater treatment plant. Mayor Blaha reviewed the history of the project and its current status.

Mayor Blaha asked for community cooperation in shoveling away snow around fire hydrants.

Mayor Blaha read aloud an e-mail letter Administrator Kranz submitted to Rural Development regarding his findings on the sewer plant upgrades and the rate effects.

LuMaye moved and Jeske seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:27 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
