OF THE
CITY OF KEWAUNEE COMMON COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
JULY 13, 2009


Present: Mayor Blaha, Alderman Kostka, Vollenweider, LuMaye, Kunkel, Zenner, Jeske, D. Kickbusch,
Sperber

Absent: None

Others: Administrator Kranz, Public Works Director Balleine, City Attorney Wolske, Dennis Grulkowski, Kim Schmeling, Cheri Laing, Nick Ritz, Willard Kickbusch, Fred Klingbeil, Pete Kolaszewski, Mike Gerbitz, Aric Bergstrom Kevin Kemp, Kurt Rentmeester

Mayor Blaha called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. whereas the Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by meditation.

Mayor Blaha read aloud a letter received from U.S. Government Services Administration dated June 25, 2009 regarding the Kewaunee Pierhead Light available for disposal and acquisition by eligible entities.

The Council received the Finance Committee minutes of June 8, 2009.

Zenner moved and Sperber seconded to approve the Operator’s Licenses as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

Zenner moved and LuMaye seconded to approve a Temporary Class "B" Retailer’s License to:

- VFW Post #3392, July 17-19, 2009, Trout Fest

- Kewaunee Rotary, July 17, 2009, Trout Fest

- Kewaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, July 17-19, Trout Fest

Motion carried unanimously.

Zenner moved and LuMaye seconded to approve the June 2009 Accounts Payables in the amount of $389,180.40. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Public Works Committee minutes of June 8 and 30, 2009.

The Council received the Lighthouse Preservation Committee minutes of June 16 and 25, 2009.

Vollenweider moved and Jeske seconded to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of June 8, 2009. Motion carried unanimously.

Vollenweider moved and Jeske seconded to approve the 3 year lease renewal with Blue Water Services, Ltd. for the lease of Lot 9 and the West One-half of Lot 10, Block 39, Old Town Plat of the City of Kewaunee. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

The engineers from Ayres Associates and Donahue reviewed the WWTP preliminary plans with the Council.

Vollenweider moved and Kostka seconded to authorize the advertising of bids for the WWTP Improvement Upgrades with the bid opening to occur September 9th at 2:00 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Blaha commented on the excellent article in the newspaper about Marina Manager Harry Luedtke. He also expressed his thanks to those who volunteered in the construction of the pavilion at the marina.

Mayor Blaha also provided a status report on several other issues/projects that are being or have been resolved.

D. Kickbusch moved and Vollenweider seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
