July 9, 2007 Regular Meeting Minutes

OF THE
CITY OF KEWAUNEE COMMON COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
JULY 9, 2007

Present: Mayor Blaha, Alderman Kostka, Vollenweider, LuMaye, Brown, Jeske, Rabas, Sperber

Absent: Zenner (excused)

Others: Administrator Kranz, City Attorney Wolske, Jeff Kohnle, Brian Vogeltanz, Barb Ludlow

Mayor Blaha called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. whereas the Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by meditation.

Kewaunee School District Board members Jeff Kohnle and Brian Vogeltanz appeared before the Council to inform them of the district’s intent to hold another referendum in February 2008. This referendum would be a non-recurring $300,000/$600,000/$900,000 vote of approval to fund and maintain current operations. Alderman were invited to attend school board committee meetings or citizen interest groups to become more informed.

The Council received the Finance Committee minutes of June 11, 2007.

LuMaye moved and Brown seconded to approve the Operator’s Licenses as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

LuMaye moved and Kostka seconded to approve the Temporary Class "B" Retailer’s Licenses as submitted . Motion carried unanimously.

LuMaye moved and Sperber seconded to approve the June 2007 Accounts Payables in the amount of $130,089.77. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

The Council received the Public Works Committee minutes of June 26, 2007.

The Council received the Tourism Promotion Committee minutes of June 25, 2007.

Kostka moved and Rabas seconded to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of June 11, 2007 as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

Vollenweider moved and Rabas seconded to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 967-07, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACTIVATION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS PLAN AND DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEN NECESSARY. Motion carried unanimously.

Upon the recommendation of Mayor Blaha, Kostka moved and Rabas seconded to approve the appointment of Jacqueline Yon to the Library Board to fill Virginia Kostka’s vacancy. Motion carried unanimously.

Vollenweider moved and Sperber seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
