May 12, 2008 Regular Meeting Minutes OFFICIAL MINUTES
D. Kickbusch, Sperber Absent: Jeske (excused) Others: Public Works Director Balleine, City Attorney Wolske, Ambulance Director Grulkowski, David Phelps, Harry Luedtke, Barb Ludlow Mayor Blaha called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. whereas the Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by meditation. The Council received the Finance Committee minutes of April 15, 2008. Zenner moved and LuMaye seconded to approve the Operator’s License as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. Zenner moved and Sperber seconded to approve the issuance of a Temporary Class "B" Retailer’s License to: - Kewaunee Fire Department Auxiliary, Inc., May 9, 2008, Brat Fry. - VFW Post 3392, July 11-13, 2008, Trout Fest Motion carried unanimously. Zenner moved and D. Kickbusch seconded to approve the issuance of a "Class B" Combination Fermented Malt Beverage and Intoxicating Liquor License to Kewaunee Arts & Entertainment LLC, John McKevitt agent, 122 Ellis Street, dba Kewaunee Inn. Motion carried unanimously. Zenner moved and LuMaye seconded to approve the April 2008 Accounts Payables in the amount of $217,805.44. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. The Council received the Public Works Committee minutes of April 29, 2008. Vollenweider moved and Sperber seconded to approve the 2008 summer hires as submitted. Motion carried with D. Kickbusch abstaining. Vollenweider moved and D. Kickbusch seconded to award the 2008 Stump Grinding to Best Stump Grinding at a cost of $.70 per inch. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. Vollenweider moved and D. Kickbusch seconded to award the 2008 Concrete Work to Pelishek Construction. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. The Council received the Tourism & Promotion Committee minutes of April 30, 2008. The Council received the Police and Fire Commission minutes of April 23, 2008. Kostka moved and Zenner seconded to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of April 15, 2008. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Blaha referred discussion issues of garbage and signs to the appropriate committees. Mayor Blaha made mention of continued awareness in pet cleanup, burn barrels and grills. He also reported that there will be a beach cleanup on Saturday, May 17th. Mayor Blaha expressed thanks to those that worked on the cleanup of Memorial Field. Mayor Blaha informed those present of Kewaunee County Commissioner Nancy Lazansky not being well and to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
