SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 19, 2009

Present: Mayor Blaha, Alderman Kostka, Vollenweider, LuMaye, Zenner, Jeske, D. Kickbusch, Kunkel

Absent: Sperber (excused)

Mayor Blaha called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Ayres Associates engineer Fred Klingbeil reviewed with the Council the wastewater treatment plant renovation design options, their components and function, and fish cleaning stations as a part of the overall project. In addition to cost estimate methodology used by different engineering firms, it was explained that estimated construction costs became higher based on the detailed inspection evaluation of the existing plant that revealed that very little can be reused in the new facility due to being obsolete by today’s standards.

Based on the recommendation of the Public Works Committee and the discussion that occurred, Kostka moved and Kunkel seconded to approve proceeding with the Base Alternative Design plan at an estimated cost of $7,891,261 in order to meet the June 30, 2009 Clean Water Fund Application submittal deadline. Upon a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Blaha commented on efforts underway in the implementation of the new Exterior Property Maintenance Code.

D. Kickbusch moved and Vollenweider seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
