Garbage and Recycling Schedule and General Information
City Garbage and Recycling Collection
Starting the week of Oct. 9, 2017, garbage will be picked up every Thursday.
Starting the week of Oct. 16, 2017, recycling will be picked up every other Thursday.
Garbage and recycling collection will occur one day later due to a holiday.
The City contracts with Advanced Disposal for all garbage and recycling pickup needs. You can contact them at 1-800-279-1930.
Large Item Pick-up
Large item collection will be on the 2nd Monday of the month. Two orange garbage stickers for up to 3 cubic yards. Special costs and stickers apply for refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, TV's, and computers. Purchase stickers at City Hall.
All waste building materials set out for curbside collection shall be properly prepared so that it can be reasonably handled and loaded by one person into the collection vehicle and each individual item shall weigh no more than 50 pounds, with the exception of large appliances. Waste from large remodeling projects will not be picked up for collection. All waste materials shall not have sharp edges, nails or other objects that would be hazardous to the collection person. To assist the collection person, separate metal items from non-metal items. No concrete will be picked up.
Disposal of Other Recyclable Materials
- Batteries: Auto batteries should be returned to the retailer. Rechargeable and cell phone batteries can be dropped off at City Hall for free disposal.
- Motor Oil: Motor Oil can be placed in oil container at the City Street Shop, 207 First Street. Do not mix solvents or other materials with oil.
- Fluorescent Light Tubes: Tubes and compact fluorescent lights (cfl) can be dropped off at City Hall. Fee for disposal is $0.50 per each.
